Timeline[]
Powers of Children of Nyx[]
- As children of a protogenoi, or primordial goddess, the demigod traits of children of Nyx are extremely enhanced far beyond that of a normal demigod and noticeably stronger than those of a child of the Big Three Gods (Zeus, Poseidon and Hades). These include superhuman strength, senses, reflexes, speed, agility, endurance and durability in general, these traits are also enhanced during the night.
- Children of Nyx can absorb shadows to make them into a superhuman with strength that can rival that of Heracles.
- More powerful at night.
- Night vision.
- Shadow travel.
- Children of Nyx have similar abilities to the children of Erebus but only to a certain extent, as they can only control the night (darkness).
- Children of Nyx can whisper through shadows. Similar to shadow traveling, but only directing their voices. Distance depends on the strength of the child.
- Children of Nyx can use the shadows as a 6th sense. This allows them to feel movement as it’s happening, giving them an upper hand in combat.
- Can extinguish light sources but also restore it by absorbing or dissipating the darkness/shadows.
- The ability to create intangible stars, which will light an area for a period of time.
- Control over many aspects of nocturnal nature.
- Stellar manipulation/Asterokinesis, the power to manipulate stars.
- Can conjure a shield dome of solid shadows around them as a defense against attacks.
- Ability to darken an area to a certain extent. It drains a lot of energy during the day but doesn't at night.
- Can cause true night in an area for a short amount of time. However, this ability is very draining during day and slightly draining during night, especially new moon nights.
- Erebokinesis/Umbrakinesis, the ability to control/manipulate darkness and shadows.
- Can be born with or manifest functional large black wings that can be retracted at will.
- Ability bend shadows to a certain extent to hide themselves, people, or objects.
- Create weapons and constructs out of shadows to a certain extent.
- Some children of Nyx can predict prophecies by reading the stars.
- Tend to fight with a blade made of total darkness.
- Very good with magic, illusion and mist.
- Children of Nyx have a greater raw power of magic than that of children of Hecate. Their magic is instinctual. They don’t cast spells, they cast their will.
- Abilities that weakens their enemy mentally, physically or emotionally (debuffs such as fear, sleep, death, etc.).
- Due to parthenogenesis their bodies are purely made out of darkness. This helps as they are immune to attacks that affect the mind and influence emotions.
- Very good at activities related to night.
- Some children of Nyx can make darkness and shadows expand the way water does when it freezes, letting them blow tight spaces up with the pressure.
- Can sense where darkness is coming from depending on the situation.
- Are able to take on the spiritual form of a nocturnal animal to transport themselves and other people, a bit like Raven from teen titans, or the 'Combat Magic' from The Kane Chronicles.
- Children of Nyx are often able to use darkness and transport themselves to the threshold of Nyx's palace, just as Nico Di Angelo can visit the Underworld whenever he wants. However, this does not mean they directly visit Tartarus, it only means that they are able to navigate the night with ease as the entire domain of darkness belongs to their mother. The demigods can visit Tartarus too, but it is difficult to go there after Hades put a bunch of security measures preventing access to the place after his demigod son, Nico, and his friends wound up there, which is why Nyx made her palace easily accessible to her kids, so that her children can carry quests for her. The goddess does not have an issue with her children visiting.
- Children of Nyx can form Cacodemons out of people’s emotions if they are strong enough.
- Can cause sleep paralysis
- if strong enough, they can summon monsters of the night. These creatures will differ depending on the demigod.
- Children of Nyx also have the the ability to turn their limbs or whole body (depending on how powerful they are) into shadow when they feel threatened.
- If powerful, they have minor control over gravity
- Manipulation of lunar energy, or moon light, to their will, just as shadows. (Not as strong as a child of Artemis, or Selene.)
- Manipulation of celestial energy to make weapons stronger to break through magical barriers, or even make a shield out of this to protect from magical attacks.
- Communication with nocturnal animals.
- Creation of dark flames that drain their opponents’ physical and magical energy.
- Creation of black ice, which is much colder than normal ice.
- Can combine their dark energy with ‘light’, or otherwise known as stellar energy.
- Manipulate stellar energy and call down fragments of stars onto a battlefield, filling it with intense heat and light.
- Nyx’s Retribution is a move that their mother blesses them with, allowing them to channel an attack with darkness and celestial energy to punishes their enemies.
- Can summon shadow wraiths that consume their opponents life force.
- Powerful children can create a small pocket dimension to store items in.
- Powerful children have small temporal abilities, or the power to slow and speed up time.
- Can absorb someone’s life force by using shadows.
- Possession of a shadow, taking control of their opponents.
- Children of Nyx can create a ‘cloak of stars’ which is just a protective cloak woven from the essence of the night sky which blocks out all attacks, no matter how powerful.
- Can develop powerful telepathic abilities, and can even learn to read minds. Although if not trained, most children will remain to being only able to manipulate dreams and nightmares.
- A child of Nyx can call upon Nyx during a long battle to finish off their opponents, or to save them. The other side will face the wrath of divine darkness from the goddess.
- Nyx's children are unlikely to be attacked by monsters as they fear what might happen when Nyx gets a hold of them. They do this because if they lose, they will be sent to Tartarus and will be tortured by Nyx for the rest of time, however if they succeed they're "life" will only last until night time, as she will hunt them down.
Traits of Children of Nyx[]
- Children of Nyx are more often than not produced through Parthenogenesis, as Nyx herself prefers not to meddle in the lives of mortals, though there is an extremely rare chance she may bear a child with a mortal man.
- Aura of darkness around them, sometimes scaring those around them and attracting monsters to serve them as their companions.
- Insomniacs who don't really need sleep.
- Pessimistic and are very unnaturally calm in every situation.
- Lack understanding of human emotions.
- Tend to have little to no sympathy.
- They prefer to not charge in like a warrior, instead playing the role of debuffer/buffer and assassins in battle
- Very dark or extremely light hair and silver/white/grey/blue/purple eyes. They have the most expressive, deepest eyes.
- Described as hauntingly or threateningly beautiful.
- Feared by many but have close friendships with children of Erebus, Hecate and Hades.
- Often feared by children of Zeus, because of Nyx’s relationship with him.
- Very overprotective of each other.
- May be incredibly socially anxious
- Are often talked to by primordial gods and goddesses whenever there's a war, trying to convince them to join their side because of the power they hold.
- Usually use phones, their aura is already strong and monsters will find them anyways.
- Tend to get overstimulated/overwhelmed very easily
- Have a hard time trusting people and spend a lot of time in the shadows. If they’re in a goofy mood and are friends with the person, however, they may enjoy scaring them. (Such as jumpscares)
- Children of Nyx experience strong emotion when they feel any emotion at all and this can cloud their judgement although this is extremely rare but natural born children of Nyx experience this more.
- When a child of Nyx dies, they become a new star that appears in the sky.
Weaknesses[]
- Powers weaken during the day
- Children of Nyx have a hard time sleeping, as their mother's power is in the night, so they usually take naps during the day.
Nyx's blessing:[]
With Nyx’s blessing, the child will become a threat to all. They will be able to remove all light in an area, and call upon celestial energies with ease. The child’s stealth will increase to a point where no one can notice them if they don’t want to be noticed. The blessing of Nyx can grant their child so much power to the point where they have the power to change/create new constellations, and have influence on all things in the solar system including the sun, moon, and planets. Since Nyx is the mother of all dark things, the child of Nyx would be able to call upon any dark creatures they wished, even minor gods that are correlated with darkness. Their psychic abilities would grow stronger, to the point where they can control someone’s mind with ease. These mind powers would even allow a child of Nyx to put Gods to sleep without difficulty. Nyx is one of the most powerful goddesses in Greek mythology, and her blessing upon one of her children would make them more powerful than most Gods, and can even be considered immortal. They would be able to warp reality in areas covered in darkness, or night, and would become omnipresent (being present anywhere and everywhere) which would allow them to know what’s happening in any area covered in darkness. A child of Nyx with their mother’s full blessing is not someone you’d want to fight on a battlefield, and they have the aura to even scare Gods away.
