Maria Perlah Rosales is the Filipino American-born daughter of Aphrodite, the Greek Goddess of Beauty, Love, Passion, Romance, Eroticism, Sex, Sexuality, Lust, Sensuality, Pleasure, Desire, Procreation, Reproduction and Fertility. Whereas through her paternal grandfather, Mr. Rosales, she's the great granddaughter of Gaea, the Greek Protogenoi or Primordial Goddess that embodies the Earth. She is a much more distant descendant of the famous Greek Hero, Achilles, and also the beauty-famous Helen of Troy. Queen of Sparta, Princess of Troy.
She's one of the main characters throughout the occurrences of Percy Jackson and the Olympians; however, she wasn't a prominent character in The Heroes of Olympus series, only making her comeback in The Trials of Apollo where she had become a close friend of Meg McCaffrey and was revealed to be in relations with Apollo. Being one of the people he was forced to serve, during his third time[1] as a mortal. Later on, she becomes the protagonist of her own sequel series; The Romance of the Seas[2], which tells the events of Maria during the time period of The Heroes of Olympus series. Also revealing what occurred during the process of being Amphitrite's Champion & Adopted Daughter.

The first appearance of Maria was during the Lightning Thief, where she was seen amidst the campers with an albino boy. Where Percy had described her to look like one of those overly decorated barbies that some of his female classmates carried around.
Later when Luke explained she was Aphrodite's daughter, Percy commented on the idea of her looking a lot like one of the twin girls who came to his mom's door. (She was in fact one of the twin girls.) Who he had originally mistaken for a hot pink fairy costume.
Maria was said to have two very curly pigtails, that were hoisted up so high that Zeus could see from Olympus himself and that at first glance, it looked more like just one huge ponytail. And that she had designed herself a Camp Half-Blood shirt that had the symbol of camp in leopard print, whereas the rest of the shirt was hot pink with sparkles as the accent.The Romance of the Seas[]

As a demigod, Maria would naturally overpower the average human. However, she has particular parts of her that make her who she is.
Indomitable Will: Maria possesses a spirit that is considered undaunted, and surprisingly incredible for someone like herself. How she has demonstrated that she is driven by an unspoken rage of some sort, which was correlated with her sister's betrayal. And from that, sprouted how much she loved her sister, despite everything she had done to Maria in a result of envy. This is proven when she had to face the Egyptian Goddess, Sekhmet. Where she was nearly beheaded, and had lost her arm and eyes, however still stood up and defeated the goddess. (Forced her back into the Heavens) Even if she could regenerate easily, she was still left traumatized yet held her will close.
Quick Strategic Mindset: Additionally, Maria always had a fast and quick working mind. She knew her way around strategizing and is part of the reason she could beat opponents that were physically stronger than her. It had also been why she was considered similar to the Roman Goddess, Minerva, and partially why she was mistaken for Roman when she met Hazel Levesque. Which references that she is shockingly militaristic, with no explanation as to why. Again, this portion of her is seen during her battle with Sekhmet.

- The middle name, Perlah, is another traditional leaning name that is Filipino with Spanish roots. The name itself means, "pearl" although is often given to a cute baby in hopes of blessing them with future wisdom and great health.
