Leah was born on June 9, 1984, two years after her older brother Luke Castellan was born on November 17, 1986. She was born in Westport, Connecticut to Hermes, the god of travelers and thieves, and May Castellan, a clear-sighted mortal.
Leah knew that her mom was unstable which frightened her but she had Luke to help. When Leah was seven years old on June 22, 1991, she was playing in the backyard as a as May was inside making their favorite, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, cookies, and kool-aid and Luke was in the kitchen talking to May, trying to at least. Luke had heard Leah scream his name and he ran outside as he was a monster on top of her then it dissolved into dust but Leah didn't make it. He held her body in his arms crying, as he lost the one person he truly cared for, other than his mom. Leah was everything to him and now she is gone.
There are many photos of Leah in May's home as when Thalia, Luke, and Annabeth go to May's for supplies, Annabeth and Thalia see pictures of her on the mantle and on the side tables. When Percy and Nico go to May's they see the same pictures, a long with a photo of Leah and Luke that was in on the Kitchen counter next to May.
