Camp Half-Blood Cabins

Where all members of Camp Half-Blood have their cabins at - official drawing.

The Kymopoleia Cabin (100) is the cabin that houses the children of Kymopoleia, the Greek Goddess of Sea, Oceans, Saltwater, Waves, Tides, Currents, Storms, Tempests, Thunder, Lightning, Thunderstorms, Hurricanes, Tornadoes, Cyclones, Gusts, Seaquakes, Whirlpools, Floods, Tsunamis, Rogue Waves, Depths, Shipwrecks, Drowning and Maritime Disasters.

Claiming and Cabin[]

Argo II

Picture of the Argo II, a ship boarded by the seven demigods in Heroes of Olympus to stop Gaea. This ship gets attacked by Kymopoleia, almost sinking, though the sinking of the ship is prevented by Perseus Jackson.

When Kymopoleia claims her children, a whirlpool containing her disc appears over the child's head.

The cabin itself looks very much like all of the other sea god cabins, but bigger, clunkier, with a replica of their mom's disc over the door. The door itself looks like a whirlpool. On the inside, it looks similar to the other sea god cabins, but it has a replica of their mother's disc in the center of the room, and a ceiling enchanted to look like the sky. If the cabin mates were to turn the wheel, the ceiling would react as the sky and the sea would, by appearing like a storm. The ceiling also showcases constellations like Orion or Ursa Major (the big dipper) at night.

The cabin heavily honors Jason Grace, demigod of Jupiter, the Roman version of Zeus. This is because for their cabin, he brought recognition, such as making an action figure for Kymopoleia, two shrines on Camp Jupiter and Camp Half-Blood, and of course, this super frightening cabin. Inside of the cabin, there are crafted and painted yellow lightning bolts made out of cardboard around the cabin, such as on shelves as a resemblance to Jason.

The Kymopoleia cabin is mostly dark, but it is lit up by fairy lights, a feature that all campers like. There are sculpted statues of Kymopoleia, and a black tiled floor dotted with painted blue waves that form a riptide. The floor is covered with various rugs of different sizes and shapes. In small glass boxes, there are showcases of abalone shells.

Timeline[]

Kymopoleia Cabin Timeline

Abilities:[]

  1. Hydrokinesis: As children of Kymopoleia, they have control over water. Similar to those of Poseidon. Overall, they have the ability to shape, control, and manipulate water, whether at sea or inland, salt or fresh, polluted or pure.
  2. Water Immunity: Their bodies allow them to withstand the freezing cold temperatures and crushing water pressure at the bottom of the ocean.
  3. Toxikinesis: As their mother did with Percy Jackson, children of Kymopoleia can dissipate poisons from one's system.
  4. Atmokinesis: Children of Kymopoleia are able to summon their own wheels and use them to create and control storms. In comparison to those of Poseidon, their storms are more powerful and aggressive than the latter, particularly when at sea rather than inland. They can also sense changes in air pressure, temperature, humidity, and other meteorological parameters, granting them an instinctive understanding of impending weather changes. They can exert control over a wide array of meteorological phenomena, though at a lesser degree than their mother. This includes summoning small rain showers or torrential downpours, as well as manipulation of the amount and intensity of precipitation.
  5. Aerokinesis (limited): As a byproduct of generating sea storms, children of Kymopoleia can also control the speed and direction of winds, from powerful gusts to even generating small tornadoes, though at a lesser degree than their mother.
  6. Storm Spirit Communication: Children of Kymopoleia have divine authority over Storm Spirits and can communicate with them.
  7. Flight (possibly): Some children of Kymopoleia can harness the wind to fly. Children of Kymopoleia with an air God/Goddess related legacy often have this ability.
  8. Superhuman Strength: Like their mother, children of Kymopoleia are considerably stronger than a regular mortal and most demigod children of other minor gods and goddesses. Although, they're not quite as strong as those of the Olympians and the Big Three.
  9. Superhuman Durability: Like their mother, children of Kymopoleia are considerably durable than a regular mortal and most demigod children of other minor gods and goddesses. Although, they're not quite as durable as those of the Olympians and the Big Three.
  10. Immunity to Storms at Sea: As Kymopoleia is the Goddess of violent seas and storms, often times, children of Kymopoleia are immune to risk of storm if they ever get caught in one. (Both literally, and sometimes, metaphorically.)
  11. Cryokinesis: Connecting to the ability of water immunity, rarely, powerful children of Kymopoleia can have the ability of cryokinesis, but only if they are at sea.
  12. Ability to Manipulate Ships: Children of Kymopoleia have the ability to control ships, as their mother Kymopoleia is shown having this ability in the book Blood of Olympus, trying to sink the Argo II.
  13. Adjusting Complexity of Sea Storms: While this may seem like an obvious thing that Children of Kymopoleia should have, children of Kymopoleia can do much more than just summon sea storms. For example, powerful children of Kymopoleia can add magical properties to their storms, like unnatural colors, making people near the storm feel conflicted or angry, et cetera. However, they often feel drained of energy if they make the storm too advanced.
  14. Echolocation: All children of Kymopoleia have the ability to use echolocation for various reasons, whether it is finding other children of Kymopoleia at sea, fish, or other sea animals.
  15. Photokinesis: Children of Kymopoleia, if deep in the sea, can produce their own light for guidance in the dark, as fish in the deep sea have adaptations that allow them to do this.
  16. Night Vision: Children of Kymopoleia can have night vision, as fish in the deep sea have this same ability.
  17. Electro-reception: While in the deep sea, children of Kymopoleia can gain the ability of electro-reception, akin to many deep-sea marine fish and creatures.
  18. Controlling Aggression of Seas: While Kymopoleia is mostly known as the Goddess of raging, unrelenting seas, she can also calm the seas with gentle whispers or commands. This ability translates onto her children as well, as they can either make seas tranquil and peaceful, or make the waves go off in a fit of pique.
  19. Naiad, Hydriad, Sea Nymph, Nereid, and Haliae Communication: As Kymopoleia is sometimes depicted as a nymph or a naiad, it would make sense for her children to be able to communicate and talk to such deities for guidance or other reasons.
  20. Charmspeak: Children of Kymopoleia potentially can have some varying level of charmspeak. Sea nymphs are known to have youthful appearances that can decieve or trick people. Also, Kymopoleia is mentioned having a melodic voice, implying that she can lure in victims for her own reasons.
  21. Deciphering Underwater Languages: Children of Kymopoleia are hard-wired to decipher and read bioluminescent languages that underwater creatures use.
  22. Speaking To Animals Underwater: Children of Kymopoleia can speak to creatures underwater.
  23. Bioluminescent Language (inspired by Wings of Fire SeaWings): Like the ability to decipher underwater languages, children of Kymopoleia have their own bioluminescent language that they can speak in. How? Well, like real bioluminescent creatures, children of Kymopoleia can produce light biologically through a process involving molecules of luciferin. When children of Kymopoleia get in deep-sea water, they grow bioluminescent scales, which they then can flash to communicate. In the cabin, they have a book for new members that explain slang, gestures, and jokes in the language.
  24. Knowing Exact Nautical Coordinates: Alike to children of Poseidon, children of Kymopoleia know their exact nautical coordinates. This power is first displayed by Perseus Jackson, a demigod of Poseidon, in the book Sea of Monsters.
  25. Adjusting to the Deep-sea: Sometimes, other campers fear children of Kymopoleia because of this ability. When they reach a certain point in the deep-sea, children of Kymopoleia start adapting to the high pressure by gaining gills, sharp teeth, claws, et cetera. They may also get some traits from their mother while underwater, such as hair that glows, just like, "jelly-fish tendrils."
  26. Breathing Underwater: Children of Kymopoleia can breathe underwater - for all people who might ask, they can breathe in and tell apart freshwater from saltwater.
  27. Marine Zoolinguism: Much like children of Poseidon, children of Kymopoleia can talk to creatures, specifically underwater creatures. They do NOT have the ability to talk to overland animals that are not part of Kymopoleia's domain.
  28. Air Bubble: This is shown by Perseus Jackson in The Last Olympian while he has an underwater kiss with his girlfriend, Annabeth Chase, aka daughter of Athena. Children of Kymopoleia can also summon air bubbles for their own reasons. (Like potential underwater kisses. <3)
  29. Dryness After Being Submerged in Water: Like children of Poseidon, children of Kymopoleia have the ability to remain dry after being in water. They can however, by choice if they really wanted to, get out of water completely soaked and wet.
  30. Generating Sea Storms: Children of Kymopoleia can summon hurricanes, typhoons, tsunamis, and earth quakes. The harsher the storm is, the more energy it drains from the user. (Earth quakes - don't remove this!!! It's because Kymopoleia is descended from Poseidon and Poseidon is known as the Earth shaker. Also, to make a tsunami, you must have an earth quake first.)

Traits[]

  1. Like their mother, children of Kymopoleia have a desire to be feared, having vicious and hostile personalities, and a tempestuous temper. Like their first half-cousin Percy Jackson, most children of Kympolopeia are rebels.
  2. Some children of Kymopoleia dislike marriages, as their mother dislikes and feels ignored in her marriage to Briares, the hundred handed one.
  3. Due to Kymopoleia's chaotic powers that cause messy endeavors, their ADHD might reflect that by being much worse than other demigods'.
  4. Connecting to the third trait, since Kymopoleia's powers are supressed by Poseidon, children of Kymopoleia might feel alone or outcasted by society, or feel that their emotions are supressed.
  5. Children of Kymopoleia might have a messy appearance and/or bad reputation.
  6. Children of Kymopoleia, much like children of Poseidon, might know facts about the sea that others don't tend to know.
  7. Children of Kymopoleia are naturally good at canoeing, as shown by their half-cousin Percy Jackson in the book, The Lightning Thief, during activities at Camp Half-Blood.
  8. Children of Kymopoleia strive to be noticed, much like their mother.
  9. Children of Kymopoleia usually have eyes that are dark gray, sea green, dark blue, black, and sometimes shades of yellow or a dirty white. (Dark gray representing the after math of a storm, or dark clouds before a storm. Sea green represents their connection to their half-cousins, children of Poseidon. Dark blue representing the ocean, black representing the bottom of the ocean, where no one wanders, and yellow representing lightning, though yellow eyes are more often seen with children of Kymopoleia that have a legacy of Zeus, or the primordial, Aether. Dirty white eyes are represented by sea foam, as sea foam often appears after sea storms occur, which is part of Kymopoleia's domain.)
  10. Children of Kymopoleia are often underappreciated, which might leave them appearing as gloomy, mysterious, quiet, or even arrogant. This is because Kymopoleia is only mentioned one time in ancient traces of Greek mythology, according to Wikipedia.
  11. Children of Kymopoleia might have a pale complexion, as their mother is mentioned to have a ghostly appearance in Blood of Olympus.
  12. Children of Kymopoleia often have unearthly beauty inherited from their mother.
  13. Children of Kymopoleia are sometimes more likely to have curly hair, as it gets tangled more easily. (This is a reference to their mother's ''easily tangled" personality.)
  14. Sometimes, children of Kymopoleia are unusually tall, akin to their mother, who is described as being as tall as twenty feet. (For people outside of the USA, Liberia, and Myanmar, it is 6.096 meters, and rounded, 6.1 meters.) They may potentially reach heights like 6 feet (1.8288/1.2 meters) and above.
  15. Sometimes, children of Kymopoleia have a strangely high pain tolerance, as their mother showcases this high pain tolerance in Blood of Olympus, where she, "barely flinched when smacked in the ribcage by Polybotes' Trident," as said in the official Riordan wiki in the page for Kymopoleia.
  16. Children of Kymopoleia are attracted to mysterious ruins, as their mother wanders Poseidon's old palace ruins.
  17. Children of Kymopoleia usually prefer to be solitary and alone, a trait inherited from their mother.
  18. Children of Kymopoleia are more likely to be introverted because of their mother.
  19. Children of Kymopoleia are excellent at being captains, since they know the seas like the back of their hand, and know exactly how to avoid and calm down storms with their powers.
  20. Children of Kymopoleia are excellent at dangerous water sports.
  21. Children of Kymopoleia are sometimes feared by the other campers because of their frightening abilities and aggressive nature.
  22. Children of Kymopoleia are really clumsy. This should be obvious as demigods have ADHD, which makes some people really clumsy, but this is an inherited trait from their mother. For children of Kymopoleia, destruction seems to follow them constantly, never leaving them at any time.
  23. As a result of trauma, children of Kymopoleia can be even more emotional than other demigods because of Kymopoleia's own struggles and traumas.

Blessing[]

The Blessing of Kymopoleia allows her children to become all-powerful for the length of a battle (or more, sometimes). They can conjure great storms with magical properties. The aftermath leaves the demigod sapped of all strength.

  1. Kymopoleia kids have study nights with the Athena kids where they study underwater creatures and do presentations with a white-board to practice public speaking and ease stage fright for the demigods with social anxiety. (Made by PJOfanforever01)
  2. Sometimes, the entire cabin goes out in a group to see the constellations. (Made by PJOfanforever01) Kymopoleia kids have competitions with the Poseidon kids on who can canoe better. It gets so intense that Chiron tells them to stop, so now they do it in the lakes annually only for one day. This helped form CHB's annual mini Olympics that campers participate in. Kymopoleia and Poseidon kids get an honorable mention each time they do these Olympics, which makes Kymopoleia smile from the distance because she is finally receiving recognition. Athena kids organize the mini Olympics. (Made by PJOfanforever01)
