Kori Aya Hagizawa was a fifteen-year-old Greek demigod, daughter of Boreas and Chiyo Hagizawa. She was born in Quebec City, Canada, and formerly resided in Camp Half-Blood. She was introduced towards the beginning of Percy Jackson and the Olympians as an unclaimed child, and is a minor character in Heroes of Olympus and a major in Trials of Apollo. She is the paternal half sister to Boreas's children and is a favoured one of Khione. She has complicated relationship status with Kristina Hernandez and is a close friend to William Solace.
History[]
Early life[]
Kori Hagiwara was born on 25th December 1995 to Boreas and Chiyo Hagizawa. Her mother was married to a mortal abusive man at the time. Fearing that he would find out about the affair, a 3-year old Kori and her mother fled to Quebec City, under the guidance of Boreas, which is where she spent majority of her childhood. They lived near Boreas castle and the god himself would come, bearing gifts. Kori could fondly remember her sitting on her father's knee as he read her a story as her mother cooked Cape Malay Curry.
But on the 18th of March, her and her mother went out on a trip and were attacked by an unknown monster. Kori, being only 8 years old at the time, was afraid and ran. She was soon found hiding in a bush by a satyr named Terry. Later, Terry ended taking her back to camp. She stayed in the Hermes Cabin for 7 years until being claimed.
Percy Jackson[]
Lightning Thief[]
When Percy first arrives, Kori is one of the demigods to greet him, alongside Luke. After showing Percy around, she is seen bickering with Will Solace who curses her to rhyme. She and her "siblings" (Connor and Travis Stroll) are also seen pranking people during Capture the flag. When Percy finishes his quest, she is one of the people who congratulate him and she even gives him a hug. But, after it is revealed that Luke was the traitor, she seems sad and is seen being comforted by the older campers. Annabeth notes to Percy that Luke was like Kori's big brother and they were quite close.
Sea of Monsters[]
Kori wasn't seen much in this book but Travis tells Annabeth that she spends most of her time in the infirmary, hanging out with Will. During the chariot races, she is partnered with Will and attacks Percy and Annnabeth's chariot. Percy deflects the attacks and injures her. When the Stymphalian Birds attack, she is seen covering Will and waving her dagger at the birds. She is also one of the campers kneeling in front of Thalia and quotes “Holy Hera… is she alive?”
The Battle of The Labyrinth[]
While Quintus is explaining the rules of his game, Kori can be heard whispering to Will "This guy's pretty suspicious. Do you think I should use him as a test trial and try that prank that Travis taught me?" When Quintus points her out, she scowls and busies herself by fixing the straps of her armour while Will laughs at her. During the battle, Kori is seen fighting among her siblings and is injured. She is seen in crutches later on.
The Last Olympian[]
Kori is rarely seen battling and is one of the capers sent to retrieve supplies. She is also seen with Will most of the time and helps tend to injured campers. During the ceremony, Hermes confirms that she is not his child and is a minor demigoddess. She dejectedly walks away and sits near a pond. While making his wish, Percy thinks about her and all the unclaimed kids. Kori is one of the campers who carry Percy and Annabeth to the lake.
