Ivana Soňa Hodosyová (pronounced Eye-vah-nah S-oh-new-ah Hoe-doe-s-yoh-you) is a Slovakian-born Roman demigoddess (disguised as a Greek demigod in the first series - prior to Jason revealing that he knew her), the daughter of Invidia and legacy of Hermes and Zeus through her paternal ancestors Odysseus and Penelope, as well as being a quarter Aura, as her father was half-aura. In the Percy Jackson series, she serves as a major character in the first series, being the tritagonist, after Percy and Annabeth. In the sequel series, Heroes of Olympus, Ivana purposed as a secondary antagonist, being the protector of her step- mother throughout the series.

Prior to Jason’s camp being switched, Ivana was dating Jason Grace, the son of Jupiter and male Praetor of the 12th Legion. During that period, she was the Legionnaire and Centurion of the 2nd Cohort.

She was known for switching around Camps often, and sometimes called Clarisse ‘Reyna’, or Pollux ‘Dakota’.

PERSONALITY[]

Main Personalities[]

Percy Jackson & the Olympians[]

In the first series, Ivana was a genuine, light-hearted and passionate young demigod. Growing up, Chiron was a father figure to her, like he was most demigods, but in Ivana’s mind, she was her father, and he saw her as his daughter. This mutual bond lead her to follow in his footsteps, eventually her basically becoming a mini version of the Centaur. She will also go out of her way or put herself in danger to protect the campers even if she knows that she may not be able to help them. Ivana favoured loyalty, honesty, fair play, and hard work, but was known to accept all demigods regardless of whether or not they possessed these traits. Her closest friends usually display at least one of these traits in varying degrees, however. Given that all of the scenes she was shown in show her with a wide smile, it can be inferred that Ivana was a very jovial individual. Ivana was renowned for her compassionate nature and charming ways. She took in the satyrs and dryads to live with her in her cabin (which was empty at the time, due to this being over 160 years ago), where they could work in peace and safety. This was considered to be a very large sacrifice at the time, due to solitude being preferred in cabins at the time. When the other demigods were careful with who the chose for their Capture the Flag team, Ivana took in those who did not fit the standards of other cabins (such as Hypnos, Tyche, Hebe and Aphrodite's cabins due to their powers not being as "useful" compared to the likes of Ares, Athena and Hermes' cabins).

Heroes of Olympus[]

Her persona changed greatly in the Heroes of Olympus series: after finding out that her only known half-sibling died, Ivana's fatal flaw came in to play a lot more often. Though she remained neutral in the Titan War - whether that be due to her being too weak to fight due to her illnesses, or her just being smart enough to not side at all - she had felt strong sympathy for the unclaimed, and knowing her brother had died just for being manipulated ground her gears a lot more than many could assume. Feeling the overwhelming urge to kill the demigods and destroy the camps, thought what isn’t known is whether this was out of pure rage or this was a sentient decision, she joined Gaea's army, alongside former Praetor Micheal Varus, and Penelope's suitors. Her ideals in people changed completely, and when in the Gigantes Army, she was no longer known for her kind heart and loyalty; but for her great cunning and determination, qualities which she prized in the other members of the army. As stated by Gaea herself: with extensive control and varying abilities, particularly in Equilibrokinesis and hexes.

Fatal Flaw[]

Ivana's fatal flaw is vindictiveness. Vindictiveness is a strong desire to get back at someone. People who hold grudges and seek revenge are full of vindictiveness. For example: If someone steps on your toe, and you put on boots to stomp back, you're full of vindictiveness.

Vindictiveness is a noun used to describe the need for vengeance, or the urge to retaliate against someone who's done you wrong. If you can’t let go of the anger that comes from being mistreated or hurt and you’re plotting revenge, you’re full vindictiveness. At the heart of vindictiveness is the Latin root word vindicta, which means "revenge."

Non-fatal flaws[]

Ivana is chronically ill, diagnosed with both POTS and hEDS, though these are minor compared to what people assume they’re like for her.

She is also abusive, specifically verbally. This is a result of severe neglect and anger issues she had to bottle up throughout her childhood due to her father’s lack of attention and concern for her. The emotional toll of verbal abuse can be long-lasting, leaving scars that take time to heal. The key to change lies in the abuser's willingness to recognize their harmful behavior and seek help. With proper support, an individual's behaviour can improve, but it requires dedication and honest self-reflection.

APPEARANCE[]

Ivana is a physically 16 year-old girl (despite actually being over 170), described to be the total opposite over her mother, whom was said to be so ugly the Gods took pity upon her. In all P.O.Vs, Ivana was described as a beautiful yet austere-looking and slightly intimidating demigoddess.

Ivana Graphic Novels

Ivana as depicted in the Graphic Novels, shown in The Lost Hero

Jason’s memories depict her as an almost-divinely radiant and stunning girl, with an overly slender, lean and ever so slightly athletic body, from her heritage as Hermes’ legacy, and her complexion being a visible yet only just distinguishable tanned, with rosy undertones. Her eyes were a somewhat pupil-less haze, being only a mesmerisingly deep and thoughtless dirt brown. Back then, her hair was a chestnut brown colour, but she later dyed it a golden blonde to match Jdon’s own hair. The texture of it is as smooth as sanded wood, and she either keeps it in a braid for maintenance purposes, or leaves it down - where it flows over her shoulders like a river of dark chocolate.

However, in Leo’s P.O.V, he was lot less subtle about his observations, directly calling her a "gothic baddie" which visibly made all of the Argo II either stare at him in shock or cringe so hard they wanted to have a heart attack. By then, her hair dye had faded, and the after effects of the dye made her hair even darker, so it was basically black. This made her skin look a lot paler than it actually was. Her double ear piercing and tongue piercing didn’t help with the “emo” cause either.

RELATIONSHIPS[]

Love Interests[]

Prior to his betrayal, Ivana had a minor crush on Luke. Despite being chronologically a lot older than him due to her time in the Lotus Casino, she showed a deep concern for him, even in the smallest of minorities.

When she was at Camp Jupiter, Ivana and Jason were a couple. She spent eight months for Jason to notice her, then they finally kissed after a meeting at Camp. Sadly, because of Hera, Jason was swapped out for Percy Jackson, a boy she wasn’t keen on whatsoever.

"Fi, Fie, Fo, Fum" we all chant in union as Zeus walks
Sometimes I paint myself blue and lay down at the bottom of the kiddie pool, so that when kids try to swim back up I can grab their ankles.
If you’re going to try attack me, run a bit faster, you rhino.
For one, I’m not a boy toy. For two, Boys are my toys.
