Hendrix Mercurius is a seventeen year old Roman demigod son of Mercury and Arella Mercurius. He came to camp at fourteen years old

"To the divine, mischievous spark in you"

History[]

Early Life[]

Hendrix Mercurius was born to Mercury, god of roads, travel, loads, gymnasiums, athletes, diplomacy, orators, thieves, commerce, trade, invitations, travelers, messengers, and merchants and Arella Mercurius in Queens, New York on October 4, 2004. Arella Mercurius was at the bar late at night drinking her troubles away as she had just messed up yet another chance of finding love. Then a man appeared before her and said "I belived you dropped this mam." as he held up the woman's wallet. She then checked her purse as she knew that the wallet was in her purse and didn't fall out. "How did you get that? I was sure that was in my purse."

"Alright I'll be honest I stole it as an excuse to talk to you." the man said, a bright and mischievous smirk on face, and introduced himself as Mercury. With that said they started talking and one thing led to another as years passed and Arella held in her hands a beautiful baby boy with a smile on her face. But the smile soon faded into a frown as she realized that the father would never come to see this boy and it would grow up without a father.

Childhood[]

When he was 9 years old Hendrix was in the elementary school classroom staring at the board as the numbers flowed around in his mind mocking him. He noticed that the teacher's purse was out that she wasn't near it. When no one was looking he made his way over to the teacher's desk and went underneath. He pulled the purse under the desk and found the wallet. He took all the money he could before anyone could notice. When he got home from school that day his mother waited for him at the door. "Hi Honey, did you do anything fun at school?" His mother said. "Because the school called and said that one of the teacher's wallets was empty." Hendrix just walked past her and went up to his room. "I swear you're so much like your father." She said with her head in her hand.

At the age of 14 Hendrix felt different from all of the other kids. He was diagnosed with ADHD and Dyslexia so he had trouble with all of his classes. His only friend in life was his spunky yet awkward friend Alex who must've been about twenty and probably held back a lot. They had one thing in common: they didn't belong in society. Hendrix's thefts had never really been that bad until he finally stole something that had great value; a diamond necklace. He didn't steal because his family needed to, or for some helpless cry of attention, he stole because he was good at it and not getting caught. He then sold the necklace and got  $500 for which he saved just in case something happened.

Monster Attack[]

One day Hendrix decided to travel to the aquarium to steal some useless junk from the gift shop. He was walking with Alex when Hendrix noticed that a big gray fish, bigger than all the rest seemed to be staring at them. He said "Alex is that fish staring at me?" Alex looked back seeing the fish and looked nervous. "No it's not looking at you, it's just a dumb fish." Suddenly the fish exploded out of the water and it grew legs and the snout of a wolf. Alex yelled "Telekines!"

"What?" replied Hendrix as more and more of the creatures appeared. "I gotta get you out of hear" said Alex. Alex rushed Hendrix out of the aquarium into a random car. "Hendrix you know how to hotwire right?"

"Sure, Don't care why, because this is a mustang and I'm keeping it."

"Wait I gotta do something." Alex said as he sprayed Hendrix with some kind of cologne. "Eww what is this?" Hendrix asked. "It'll keep your scent hidden for a while." Alex said.

"Do I really smell that bad to you?" Hendrix said, laughing.

Coming to Camp[]

After almost 2 days of driving from Queens they were approaching an ominous forest. "Hey I'm started to smell like myself again." Suddenly they heard a loud Thump! As they got closer and closer to the forest the noises got louder. The giant noise revealed to be a hulking giant 3 times the size of a normal human with a club and one red eye. The cyclops got close enough to smash the car into pieces. Alex and Hendrix flew out of the car and hit the pavement painfully. They started running as fast as they could. Alex threw two short swords at Hendrix and he caught them. Hendrix started to stab at the cyclops legs. "Annoying demigod."

"Demigod? What the heck is that?" Hendrix asked. "Don't worry all we have to do is reach the camp!" said Alex. Hendrix used his speed to dodge the cyclops' attacks until the cyclops was finally tired from all of the misses. Hendrix followed Alex to a strange looking entrance with letters on it that Hendrix didn't understand, but when he looked at it closely and it spelled out Camp Half-Blood. Once they were pass the entrance the cyclops stopped and said "Little coward." Hendrix was finally safe.

Hendrix was claimed as the son of Mercury.

Personality[]

As the all-rounder of the gods, Mercury is nothing if not cosmopolitan. With his many symbols invoked in every corner of the Mythological World, from fashion to medicine to cars, it’s to be expected that his successors would be equally as magnificent. Unfortunately, Hendrix has... approximately none of this appeal. Don’t get him wrong, he’s definitely got the popular and fashionable aspects down pat. Being one of the Triad, his name comes up in conversation quite often, and the guy dresses with purpose and presents himself with a remarkable level of care. But in a school full of the “fairest of them all”, even that doesn’t guarantee one’s perceived level of dignity. Similarly, with young princesses everywhere forced to prove their intelligence and resolve, Booster fails to defy an entirely different stereotype altogether: the airheaded demigod. The Olympian version of a dumb jock, his usefulness tends to amount to being the muscle for his more successful classmates, and even then, it’s not really a constant. On some days, he’s the guy taking the nerd’s lunch money, and on others, he’s the bodyguard hired by the same nerd. But in any situation, he’s distinctly not the smartest person in the room. It’s a Greek tragedy that he’s perceived this way, because on some level, he truly is a critical thinker who’s become comfortable and even prone to dissecting a problem. By necessity, he’s had to be, considering the eternal question in his life has been about what his body lacks. But to be fair, a big reason others don’t notice this about him is because he doesn’t want them to. It’s bad enough everyone knows he can’t fly: to know it bothers him as much as it does would not be a dream, but a waking nightmare. As a result, Hendrix puts on this careless facade around his peers. After all, if Mercury is destined to have buckets of responsibilities piled onto him, wouldn’t the “cool” thing be to honor precisely none of them? This flawed external logic guides his everyday actions, and despite the fact that he knows all the rules of both godliness and dreamkeeping, he’ll break each and every one of them if it means he can distract from his inherent insecurities. Ironically, for such a promiscuous guy, Hendrix is a truly, truly awful flirt. If you’ve had the audacity to be attractive in his vicinity, then you’ve definitely heard “Did it hurt when you fell from Olympus?” or “You must be Cinderella, because I see that dress disappearing by midnight...” on rotation (legend has it he has a 60 percent success rate with getting dates). Honestly, it’s a good thing he’s only destined to relay other people’s messages, because he certainly isn’t such a wordsmith himself. Overall, like a true god of Olympus, Hendrix is finicky, ill-tempered, and full of dichotomies. The biggest would have to be that, despite his celestiality, he is so deeply, incredibly human - and not in the most pleasing of ways. But senior year isn’t over yet, and perhaps like the flawed humans, he’ll soon learn to reach for the skies: even if not literally. Incredibly dramatic like a scene from a musical, Hendrix is one of those people you would call chaotic evil. He likes screwing people over and messing around with people’s emotions like it’s a game of cards. He is sadistic, ambitious and out for blood -- literally. His only redeeming quality is his physical appearance, and any encounters with him ends on a sour note. He is the odd one out from all his other siblings, having an affinity for explosions, violence, and corpses. His siblings seem to rule him out as a brother, as they all have their own love agendas to keep up with. Hendrix does not seem to agree with that, preferring to chuck a spear at the ideas of romance. Outside of their home in the clouds, his siblings act like they aren’t related to him because of the nuisances he causes at Camp Olympia. He receives detention and referrals like they were flyers from the mail, and they pile up with every week that goes by. Just like how he doesn’t mind these, he doesn’t mind if his siblings ostracize him. He believes that they just don’t understand the mechanics of a guy with a wild imagination. Hendrix is also very impatient, as most of his life hangs on the phrase: “Love is patience.” He absolutely hates waiting for anything, especially when it comes to love. This is one of the reasons why he rebels against being a cherub since it is definitely not his thing. He hears that love includes patience every day of every hour and in every lecture and he despises it. This seeps into himself now as he hates waiting and needs answers asap. Despite being so impatient, he is that one person who takes three hours to get ready and makes others wait for him. Just as he is a heart throb, he is also a heartbreaker. Upon the first meeting, he is a gentleman and acts politely towards new strangers. Of course, it’s a facade, and it is not figured out until the damage has been done. One of his favorite things to do is lead someone into thinking they had something, only to crush their feelings in the end. He has people in the palm of his hand, without intentions of letting go. Recommendations about avoiding him were greatly advised, but it is difficult to do so, since he can manipulate the feeling of love with the movement of his fingers. He lets people come crawling back to him, pretending to be oblivious about what happened. Even if he likes breaking hearts, he wants all the lovey dovey attention on him and nobody else. (Aka, the ultimate senpai) He is an immensely jealous person, and if he sees a person that once adored him, fawn over someone else, he would grow angry and vengeful. Of course, he wouldn’t say it out loud, and rather schemes horrid plans in his head in order to win them back. Hendrix enjoys blackmail, and will hold it against someone until the day they die or confess it themselves. He is quite good at it, and his source of intel comes from Julia Vera and Hendrix pays a hefty price for all the juicy info. He is also a backstabber, and any chance that he can betray someone, he would. (A yandere basically). Being the son of Hermes, he has shown clear signs of being sexually active, which is another aspect of love. He is quite promiscuous, and whoever he sleeps with, he will not say. It is the only thing he keeps a secret since his father did, and being a Roman, Hendrix feels entitled to do the same. The only thing he will spill, however, is the amount of people he was with in one night. He prefers not to be tied down to a partner, though, as he adores the idea of sleeping with someone new every night. It annoys his roommate that he brings back people every night. He finds it exciting and never really keeps his legs closed. Because of this, he just doesn’t know what personal space is and loves to keep his arm around people’s waists while talking or trailing his finger on their jaw. Despite all the heartbreaks, jealousy, and immensely explosive personality, Hendrix has a sort of low self esteem. He attempts to hide it by laughing it off and joking about his outbursts. He doesn’t show signs of this since he posts thousands of selfies on Instagram and has no problem in front of the camera as his insecurities do not lie on his appearance. In the middle of the night, when he is alone with his thoughts, all he can think about is why he is so different from the rest of his siblings and why they aren’t accepting of who he is. He thinks about the ideas of love constantly, not just romantic love, but family love. He feels that they hate him, but knows there’s nothing he can do to change himself. He thinks it is hypocritical as they are the children of love, yet there just isn’t enough room for love for him. Hendrix constantly dreams of success and would do anything to get there, but does not understand the consequences on his stepping stones there. He is extremely vain and believes that that is enough to get him where he wants to be in the future. He acts like a diva and expects to be treated like a king only because his father is a god. This may push people away, and Hendrix hates being alone. He chooses to be part of the bad crowd, mostly because he just can’t stand the thought of not being around people.

Fatal Flaw(4)[]

Hendrix's fatal flaws are his feelings of Inferiority and recklessness. Hendrix, as the lowest of the Triad, is often disrespected by Mona and Diane, which as led to some secret mental issues. His reckless comes in as a son of a trickster deity, and he often says and does things with out thinking, which can lead to trouble

Appearance[]

Hendrix is a good-looking young man of mixed ethnic heritage (white Greek and Arab Egyptian) with bronze skin (that may or may not resemble the color of golden sand), glowing green eyes (a denoter of his status as a semi-immortal being), and voluminous naturally golden blond hair. His face is chiseled, with the cheekbones of an Abracadabra and Fitch model, and the athletic build to go with it. At 6’4”, he towers over the other two of the Triad, and combined with his naturally long lashes, they each envy him for his features. Despite his undeniable masculine appeal, he has no qualms with presenting himself fashionably and a bit femininely (which one should expect, considering he rounds out a stereotypically catty group of mean girls). As the horndog of the triad, his style skews towards revealing, with mesh fabrics being common, but his sporty background means inspiration from athletic wear is also taken. Hendrix is often seen wearing a gray mesh shirt, jeans, and sneakers

Relationships[]

Friends[]

  • Matrimona "Mona" Alexandros: As the lowest ranked of the Triad, no one respects Hendrix. However, no one respects him even less than Mona. His clumsiness and stupidity often come into conflict with her efficiency and lack of patience, and this makes for a rather toxic relationship between the daughter of Hera and the son of Mercury. Though she and Diane may butt heads as often as they do, at the very least, the daughter of Diana does her job with the talents of a hero. However, Mona can think of very little Hendrix brings to the table, except perhaps being the only one in the group who actually hails from the same city as her. Unfortunately, this alone is not enough to earn her favor. A bully to him, she has no qualms with pointing out his shortcomings for all to hear, and often shines a light on his deepest insecurity: his inability to fly. However, the ultimate sign of disrespect from her would have to be the fact that she doesn’t even call him by his preferred nickname of Drew. As long as it succeeds in hurting him, she will continue to call him Hendrix, “the one who can’t fly”.
  • Diane de la Luna: Much like Mona, Diane doesn't respect the lowest ranked of the Triad, however, Diane isn't as harsh as Mona is to him. They but heads once in a while, but they're still rather close with each other.

Family[]

  • Mercury: Hendrix is shown to have a great relationship with his father. While he does resent him for leaving him, he still loves his father. He respects him as a god and as his father. Hendrix held a grudge against him since he left, but soon got over it. The two now have a good relation ship
  • Arella: Hendrix loves his mother dearly, and often apologizes for being such a rowdy child. They often face time each other or iris message each other

Etymology[]

Though Hendrix is best associated with the musical icon, it is, in fact, a historical name that derives from the German and Dutch name, Hendrik, meaning "estate ruler."

In Biblical Baby Names the meaning of the name Mercurius is: "An orator" or "an interpreter."
