Alexander "Alex" MacQuarrie is a 17-year-old demigod son of Maeve MacQuarrie and Dionysus.

Appearance[]
When he was younger, Alex had pale skin, dark brown hair, and amber eyes. As he got older, Alex had more tan skin. He is tall and slim, measuring in at 5’11”.
Personality[]
The memories of the abuse Alex suffered at the hands of his stepfather weigh heavily upon him and he sometimes freezes at the thought of the man. Alex is a quiet but joyous person. He tends to only speak up when he sees something he feels is unjust, at which point he feels he has no choice but to speak. Alex can be quick to anger, but he is even quicker to forgive. As he drops his cool and calm persona, Alex becomes more confident, but his confidence can backfire by keeping him from seeing all perspectives of a given situation. Alex tends to give everyone a second, and sometimes even a third, chance to be better before holding a grudge. While some campers may take advantage of this, Alex’s friends love his optimistic attitude. Alex’s confidence and optimism are tempered by the occasional dose of sarcasm.
Fatal Flaw[]
Alex’s Fatal Flaw is his optimism. He believes everybody can be better, and this has landed him in tough situations.

Childhood[]
Alexander MacQuarrie was born to Maeve MacQuarrie and the Greek god Dionysus. As he got older, his mother remarried to an upper-middle-class man in the Bronx. From then on, his life was mostly comfortable. He went to public school, not because they couldn’t afford private school but because his new stepfather said it would help him develop immunities.
Unfortunately, Alex was plagued by ADHD and dyslexia, making it almost impossible to do well in school. He transitioned from school to school, never staying in one place for very long. As he faced more and more trouble with the schools, his stepfather’s patience wore thin. When he was 13 years old, he told his mother he was bisexual. When his stepfather overheard, Alex’s life went from comfortable to miserable. He was frequently physically abused. One night, Alex packed a bag full of clothes and left, repeating to himself, “Anywhere is better than here.”
Arrival at Camp Half-Blood[]
After a month of life on the road, he was found by two demigods, who offered him sanctuary in Camp Half-Blood. Along the way, they faced many monsters, both humanoid and bestial, until Half-Blood Hill was in sight. When they finally arrived, Alex was claimed by Dionysus and soon settled in with Cabin 12. They welcomed him and helped him to work through his trauma. Some of Alex's fondest memories are of singing songs from Broadway musicals with the rest of the cabin.

- Partial Zoolingualism - Alex can speak to animals of Dionysus, such as tigers, panthers, or bulls.
